Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to treat dynamic wrinkles on the face ( forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet at the side of the eyes, bunny lines on the nose, smokers lines around the mouth, marionette lines at the corners of the mouth and neck bands). These wrinkles can make the face look tired, sad, angry and aged.
FAQs
Anti-wrinkle has been used for over 40 years without any long term problems.
Anti-wrinkle injections temporarily block nerve transmission to muscles under the skin. Facial lines formed by movement of these muscles will then reduce or disappear.
Anti-wrinkle injections are suitable for most patients– whether young and looking to prevent wrinkles or older looking to make wrinkles disappear. Our doctors will advise you if you are suitable.
Most patients will experience a very slight discomfort or stinging sensation which lasts a few seconds only.
There may be some slight redness in the area which usually settles after a few hours.
For 4 hours after treatment we advise no vigorous exercise, alcohol consumption, lying down , bending forward or massaging the area. After that you can carry on as normal.
The maximum effects are seen after 2 weeks.
3-6 months (each individual responds differently)
Anti-wrinkle injections are very safe and side effects are very rare. Side effects such as bruising, drooping brow and drooping eyelid are usually associated with non registered practitioners carrying the treatment out.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid – a substance naturally made by the body. At Abi Dental we only use FDA approved fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane- be aware of new brands of fillers, this field is not strictly regulated meaning products can be promoted without much testing or knowledge of the long term side effects. They are very safe if administered by a medically trained practitioner.
FAQs
Dermal fillers are suitable for most patients. Our medically qualified practitioners will be able to advise you if you are a candidate.
Our clinic uses the strongest prescription numbing cream available on the market. It is normal to experience some mild discomfort whilst the filler is being injected. Some fillers we use also have a pre-mixed local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort.
There may be some mild redness, swelling and bruising which usually settles over the next few days.
Immediately after you can apply ice packs and arnica creak to minimise bruising and swelling. Take paracetamol to reduce the pain. Avoid itching, massaging or picking the site.
Our doctors will talk you through your after care instructions in detail.
Immediately. We offer a complimentary 2 week review to review whether we need to make any tweaks and to ensure our clients are happy with the results.
6-18 months.
All medical procedures have risks. If carried out by a medically qualified professional the risks and complications of dermal fillers are very low.
Profhilo®
Profhilo® is a type of injectable rejuvenation treatment, and unlike dermal fillers it is not designed to add volume to the skin, or restrict movement in the facial muscles. Instead, this anti-ageing hydration treatment contains high levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring compound which helps improve tone, texture and elasticity.
As we age, the presence of hyaluronic acid in the skin naturally starts to drop, which causes the skin to lose its natural firmness and elasticity. Most people begin to see the effects of hyaluronic acid depletion as they reach their 30s – and Profhilo® is the perfect treatment for anyone looking to counteract this.
Profhilo® is usually administered into the skin in five key areas (when administered to the face): the tops of cheeks, side of the face, lines around the mouth, nasolabial folds and laughter lines. It can also be used to improve the appearance of the skin around the neck, chest and décolletage.
Saggy, lax and wrinkled skin on the jowls, neck or hands. Great for patients who want to address these issues but want to look natural and do not want to look ‘puffy’ by filling out these areas with dermal fillers.
Injections of hyaluronic acid – 5 specific points on each side of either the face, neck or hands. 2 sessions are required- the second is 4 weeks after the first.
We use the strongest anaesthetic numbing cream available on the market to make sure the treatment is comfortable. Only a brief stinging sensation is felt.
Immediately after there may be slight reddening and a few bumps which look like bug bits where you have been injected, these settle down very quickly in the next few hours.
We advise no application of make up for 4-6 hours, no heat (sauna/steam room) for 24 hours, no vigorous exercise for 24 hours, no facials/facial massages for the next 2 weeks, to wear spf daily (as should be part of your normal skincare routine).
Maximum results are seen at 8 weeks- the product encourages your own body to stimulate collagen and hence the results take time to be seen however the skin should look lifted and have a ‘glow’.
The treatment is generally very safe, hyaluronic acid is a natural substance made by the body.
